So close…….

Yahoo!  We’re home!  Actually, we’ve been at Les Terraces for a week, and what a busy week it has been. I shan’t bore you with our arduous trip over the pond, save to mention that Graham and I saw the first snow that either of us has seen in well over 25 years during our brief, but bitterly cold, sojourn in Paris.  And that the TGV was actually late!  About 15 minutes late arriving into CDG2, which meant that we missed our connecting TER.  We were 1½ hours later home than we had expected to be.   Lyn & Robin met us from the coach that eventually arrived in Sainte-Foy-La-Grande and we did a gently revised version of our standard return home: Graham had company for his couple of quiet beers at the Globetrotter while I had a chauffeur-driven ride to the supermarket to pick up a few basics – much appreciated.  Instead of trailing down to Les Sarments for dinner we were able to enjoy eating at home and falling into bed at a sensible hour.  Actually, we were doubly lucky on the dinner front, as we’ve subsequently discovered that Les Sarments has closed its doors for good, which is a huge shame as it (and ts owner) was one of our favourites and so close to home.

The new bathrooms look great.  Here’s one of them (not quite, but very nearly, finished):

the new master bath
The almost-complete bathroom in the new master suite

There remains much to be done: there are still some spots to be wired, and (stupidly) we didn’t get the painter to quote for painting the doors, so they must all be done.  Plus the landing took a hit with heavy materials being move across it, so that must be re-stained.  And then there’s the joy of cleaning up all of the dust.  Seemingly, it matters little how careful you are with dust sheets and so on, the rotten stuff gets everywhere so every cupboard and surface must be dusted and polished, and then dusted and polished again because you disturbed so much into the air the first time around.  Hey-ho.  Good thing we don’t have any renters arriving soon!

Well, that’s enough procrastination.  Time to get back to work!
