Merry Christmas to all (three) of our readers.

Well, another year has passed.  Where it has gone I know not, but there you go.  I guess that the old saw of “the older you get, the faster time flies” holds true.

Les Terraces has had a good year – we’ve met some lovely people and had a wonderful time getting to know Sainte-Foy-La-Grande and its environs better.  We’ve discovered new restaurants (when I can tear Graham away from his terrace and the view).  We had planned to spend a bit of the summer exploring more of France, but didn’t get round to it.  Next year, perhaps.  Leaving the house to return to the BVI seems to get harder each time, not easier, which I find a bit strange but there you go.

Work on the next phase of the renovation of the house starts in just 2 weeks’ time.  I really want to be there helping with the work.  I want to see what happens when we open up spaces that we’ve not yet seen, and break all my finger-nails, and have a back that aches from hard work.  However, I suspect that my long-suffering stepfather is thanking his lucky stars that we’re not able to be there!

Well, a rag-tag group of teenagers has been assembling in the street outside the house for a couple of hours and they’ve just started carolling enthusiastically, if rather tunelessly.  It is time for me to make breakfast and get ready to go round to our friend’s house for lunch.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not we’d like to wish you an enjoyable day and our very best wishes for a happy, healthy and peaceful year ahead.  We hope that we will cross paths with you in the not too distant future.

Graham & Alex

  1. Hi Alex, Hi Graham,
Belated Christmas and New Year Greetings to you both from Australia (on Australia Day 2013).
I have been catching up with your blog again Alex. I read quite a lot when we were with you in August 2011, but I have started my own blog with the emails I was sending home fromEurope during that trip and I came across your blog again.

It is so nice to read stories by and about people and places you know. I am an absolute beginner, but I have made a start and got the hang of the technology (well, almost) so when we visit France again later this year, I hope to continue.

    Best wishes to you both

  2. Dear Viv & Paul..

Great to hear from you. We’re heading back in 6 weeks time for 6 weeks and planning our summer trip too. I’ll go and have a look at your blog as soon as I’ve done a renovation update blog.

Do give us a call if you plan on being back in our area this summer – we’d love to see you again.

Best wishes to you both. Hope that this summer hasn’t been too harsh on you and yours.

    Alex & Graham.
