Deep Fried Spammers!

October was a busy month for us – returning to the office after a 2-month absence wasn’t too tough, as all we had done was relocate the office to Sainte-Foy-La-Grande.  Although, instead of the 18 – 20 square feet of desk space that we each “enjoy” in Tortola we have to share  about 4 square feet at Les Terraces!  Still, it means we’re tidier workers – in theory, at least.

The long and short of the return is that I didn’t have a chance to write a blog post for over a month.  Graham thinks that it doesn’t matter, as no-one ever reads them.  Judging by the lack of feedback I’m inclined to say that he’s right.  It seems that, besides family, who occasionally read my drivel out of sheer indulgence I’m sure, the only people who ever find my posts are the spammers.  Yesterday, when I fired up WordPress there were 209 comments – all of them spam.  I’ve never wanted to know where to buy Ugg(ly) boots, or clothing made by a company with a pretentious name, or gamble (online or otherwise),  or watch streamed movies, or any of the other things that spammers flog.  And I’m sure that my family don’t want them either.  I wonder, is there a tool that could instantly zap the spam as it arrives?  I wish there were.  Graham told me the other day that by somehow shutting down spammers in Russia the world was relieved of 500 billion pieces of spam.  How come those that remain are still finding the Les Terraces blog?

Mo is keen to find some way of earning money – he’s tinkering with an idea for a phone app for university applicants at the moment.   Maybe when he’s finished his BAC exams in June I can set him to working out a program for instant spam (and spammer) death.  Worth a thought.

In the meantime, if there’s anyone out there (other than the spammers) who would like to give a word of encouragement, or two, don’t be shy!  It would be nice to know that I’m not really wasting time!
